May 6, New Photos
I won’t always have the a series of photos as context for the photo of the week, but this time around I do. I think the additional photos will help participants make sense of the interaction. I’ll post my interpretation of the original photo of the week on Sunday, May 11, and post a new photo for interpretation then also.

The dog on top is a youngster playing with an adult dog. Licking of the lips is an appeasement . The cream dog is tolerating the behaviour.

To me…the red dog seems to be pulling dominance over the cream dog. Regardless of which dog is older, the cream dog seems to be in momentary distress in the last photo. I gather from this series of photos that both dogs where playing with abandon. However, I warn that allowing displays of dominance between dogs will negatively affect the “under-dog”, particularly when his/her owner (alpha) is present and allowing this to happen. If the cream dog is truly the alpha of the red dog, the body language could represent an acceptance of the red dog - for the time being.
