What type of interaction is this. What terms would you use to describe it? How many expressions, behaviors, actions, etc. do you see?

The c-shaped commisure coupled with the posture of both dogs (on hind legs with front paws over each other) makes me nervous. Both dogs also seem to have hard eyes and to be staring directly at each other. This looks like it may have started off as play and escalated, or it may still be very rough play. The sequence coming after this one would tell which category this falls under.

I see this with my girls - they’re in the middle of a good rough-housing session and they both rear up and sound horrible but its just noise. I often call them to me or otherwise break it up to give them a time out - I would do the same with the two in the picture

This looks to me like it might be some ritualized aggression. Very upright posturing and a bit harder look to the eyes. No really curving bodies. I am not very good at this so will be curious to see if I am close.

Wicked on the right is my dog and Andor on the left I walk 3 or 4 times a week. Most of the times this is playing, sometimes Andor is playing to rough and that is when Wicked says NO! If Wicked does not like playing anymore the play session is over. All dogs do respect him a lot. I did not need to interrupt.
